So , Christmas and New Years celebrations , I decided at a very last minute in November 2016 to visit Bangkok – Thailand , as it was last minute I thought prices will be crazy , I read about an app called Hopper , you can actually add your travel dates , and if the prices are high , it can inform you if or when the prices go down . Luckily I got lucky and got a pretty decent priced flight to Bangkok only $530 with Etihad airways .
Sawadee Kha (Hello/Welcome) – Thailand
I arrived early morning , as preferred I usually stay at one of the Accor Hotels , this time I decided to stay in Novotel Fenix Silom . If you stay here and plan on using the Train Link , ill recommend to get off the BTS Saphan Taksin Station . I got off on Sursak and walked for a while and in 32 Celsius I was toasted 😀 .
The hotel was really accommodating , I got a decent room with a beautiful skyline. The Fitness center was really decent with a Pool, Gym & Sauna. What I loved about the place was there are so many nice restaurants around and a pretty cool Club down stairs Called Maggie Choos , if your like me you will love Every Sunday night, great crowd, there is a cover charge of 300 Bhat and there is a waiting list with two drinks included which is just awesome . I had my first Cosmopolitan on my holiday here . Me and my friend had a nice spa day as well it was Relaxing 😉 .
Christmas Eve : For Christmas I planned on doing something new , which was having Japanese food (I have had Japanese food before But not on Christmas eve) I tried Sake for the first time tough , it was interesting experience , That drink is strong and I am particularly light weight so it was kinda fun . I went to Nippon Kai at Siam Paragon and then to See the Christmas Decoration.
It was an emotional time for Thailand, the country is definitely grieving the lost of the beloved King . They definitely are strong to keep all the celebrations and festivities going.
After Siam Paragon , went to Lebua Tower at the Sky bar for a drink, the waiting line to get in was outrageous but worth it .
Christmas Day : A nice dinner close to my hotel at a place called Silom Village . Had some Margaritas , Sea Food and that sums up my Christmas day. Went back to hotel and relaxed .
Friends Blessing : The next day a good friend of mine Kam picked me up for dinner, and took me to Thonglor , it’s a place full of Posh Locals and expats . We went The Commons , three stores beautiful architecture building, is a food heaven , one of the best Ribs I have had till date . I know Kam for three years now, she is the best thing that has ever happened to me, truly a blessing to have her in my life.
After Dinner the girls took me to a famous desert joint in Bangkok called After You Co , the desert at this place is mouth watering, in-fact it’s so good that there is a waiting line. Totally awesome
Me Time : The next day I wanted to visit Asiatique, I have read a lot about it, its a beautiful place , ill recommend you to visit around sunset time, it has great food joints, some really decent places to get , spa time, souvenirs and clothes . The easiest and fastest way to get there is via boat. Take the BTS train to Saphan Taksin and jump on the shuttle at the end of the pier they charge 30 Bhat if you’re visiting , for locals its free . It only takes ten minutes, and the boat runs until 23:00. Avoid Taxis at the traffic can be outrageous . It was super close to my hotel like 10 minutes walking distance to Saphan Taksin. I made a small video to show how cool it is. This probably the only place in Bangkok , that looks like the pictures shared online . Sorry for the shaky video I don’t know how to walk and stabilize the camera at the same time .
New Years Eve :
My New Years eve went from mild to Epic Partying .
I started that morning with one of my daily rituals, Starbucks ❤ at Lebua Tower on the way back , I saw a beautiful Temple , I am not sure what its called but it was beautiful .
Soon it was like 6:00 PM and had to get ready for the White Party Bangkok , before that I needed a Pre – Drink & Food , so I went to a chic place near my hotel Ice cafe right opposite Lebua tower . Dinner and Singapore Symphony. This place is opened 24 hours, after clubbing we went to this resturant for some food.
Finally it was party time . This party was full of International celebrities , from Beth Sacks, Shangela from Ru Paul’s Drag Race , DJ Suri, DJ Aron.
The next day was recovering and Packing and heading back home .
